FAQs

Will IHM work with my architect, builder, contractor or designer?

Yes, gladly! We delight in working with architects, contractors, builders and professionals in the interior design field to address their client’s unique technology needs. IHM can provide specifications and requirements for electronic components, and answer questions pertaining to the design of a Home Theater or Screening Room. Our extensive acoustical training allows us to work closely with your architect and builder to help design spaces that are acoustically friendly. Due to the nature of sound, it is better to start with a space that works with the acoustics, as opposed to against them.

Is there a charge for estimates?

No, we provide written estimates at no cost. This can be discussed at our initial meeting at your home or office.

Does the equipment you install have to be visible?

No. In existing homes or businesses, most people choose to conceal components in cabinets or closets. If cabinets or closets aren’t available, we will make recommendations to help conceal equipment and components in a way that will complement even the most elegant decor. Naturally, if you are building a home or office we can work with your architect or builder to seamlessly incorporate your system into your environment.

Will IHM install equipment that I purchase myself?

IHM distinguishes itself from its competition by maintaining an uncompromised level of quality. While we will install equipment purchased by a client, we reserve the right to decline such projects if we feel that the equipment will fail to meet the needs or expectations of the client. In such cases we will be happy to make suggestions and offer alternatives.

I don’t have a big budget. Can IHM still help me?

Yes. Planning is a very important aspect of getting the most out of your home theater budget. We will discuss your dream system and map out a plan of how best to build a system with your goals in mind. An IHM professional will help guide you in investing your money in the right components at the right stage of the project. We will also help you to do things up front that will save you money in the future as you add to or upgrade your system.

Does IHM have a showroom?

Even better than a showroom, at your convenience we can show you actual applications of Home Theater, Distributed Audio, and Integrated Automation in a home environment.

Can I operate one of these systems if I’m not a tech-head?

Yes. IHM recognizes that for some strange reason technology lovers are usually paired up with the technologically challenged people of the world. So, we take every precaution to provide system controls that just about anyone will be able to use with confidence. We can also provide a cheat sheet of short cuts for the non-tech types in your home or business.

Suppose I have a question or a problem with my system?

We aren’t a store or a web-based business. We’re available by phone 24/7 and won’t hesitate to make a house call at any time to take care of any questions or problems.

What does whole home and whole environment mean?

Both of these terms refer to your ability to control your audio and video sources from anywhere in your home or office, indoors or out. So, whether you’re in the kitchen and want to turn down the stereo so that you can answer the phone, or out by the swimming pool and want to dim the lights and turn on some relaxing music to be broadcast through your outdoor speakers, you’re in control without making a trip to the actual component.

How is IHM different from the big box stores?

In addition to IHM’s extensive training and certifications, we constantly strive to stay on top of the latest improvements in equipment, design and installation so we can give you the very best system for your money.
